How has the Internet changed the way you eat?

When I was little, I don’t remember my mom, searching for the recipes on Google while cooking. She always used a huge book with tons of recipes. Also, my mom had a personal book where she wrote down the recipes she liked the most from the cooking book.

Nowadays, when I want to cook something, and I’m not really sure about the recipe, I can just simply open the Internet and search for it. Couple of days ago I was looking for a recipe of a baked salmon. I simply opened Google and searched for it. The search result gave me many different websites and various ways of how to cook the salmon: with lemon, soy sauce, tomatoes, potatoes, and so on. Even my grandmother search for recipes on the Internet nowadays. Social networks, like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube are full of recipes, blogs, and shows about the food.

I love experimenting with food not only at home but in different restaurants as well. When I go to the restaurant, some of them don’t have the pictures of the food on the menu. That’s fine with me if they explain what kind of dish is it in the description. If they don’t, sometimes it’s hard to understand what goes inside of my dish. I always feel a bit awkward to be asking the waiter about all the dishes. In this case, I open Google maps or Yelp, search for the name of this restaurant, and just check the pictures of the food of other people that came here before. That works for sure! After I find something I like, I can just simply ask the waiter about the sauce they used or if we can change what was on the side.

I can surely tell that the Internet changed the way we eat to a much better way! πŸ™‚
